tonight at 11:00 p.m. >> he was unarmed and not making a threat. >> in glen burnie man did not go unnoticed, trespassing and anne arundel county high school. authorities made an alarming discovery at his home. they found assault weapons. he is in a psychiatric hospital. >> police tell us their detectives in this case did not want to take chances because of what happened at connecticut. this started monday when school was in session. justin beaumont and slipped into north county high school by following an employee. he said he was a student in 2002 and was approached by another employee and a school resource officer. baumann told him he was bullied during his two months at the school and asked about the school's security and talked about his military background. police say he was not armed and made those threatno threats.

detectives found he was the legal owner of several assault weapons and handguns. >> based on the totality of the circumstances and under provisions provided in a mental health ofeducation and article, we obtained a warrant. >> detectives found an ak-47, an assault weapon, two bold action rifles, three handguns with a laser sight. they found a silencer and numerous ammunition magazines. it was loaded with a 30-round clip. this neighbor did not want to be identified. >> especially being my neighbor, it is kind of disturbing. i have seen him several times. he seemed like a nice kid. >> police seized the weapons and put him into custody to undergo mental evaluations. it is not clear why he was at the school. >> post-connecticut we have got

to recognize as an agency, a nation, as the state, that our school children, we have to take these kinds of precautionary thorough investigative steps to make sure we can do everything to keep them safe. >> the school superintendent said his schools are safe and they drill for whenever scenarios may arise. >> there is always the possibility for human error or people to take a minute of opportunities as in the case of someone grabbing a door before it closes in gaining entry. >> so far, beaumont is charged with trespassing but tonight his bond was revoked as he undergoes his mental evaluations. a judge will decide what is next for beaumont and those weapons. >> nearly 1000 people rallied today in protest of the governor's proposed gun-control legislation. >> the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be

infringed. >> gun rights activists oppose the plan to require gun licenses and his broadband on assault weapons among other things. many signed up to testify to hear from opponents and supporters of the band. >> this is not about ideology. this is about public safety and about doing reasonable things that work to save lives. >> the gun control legislation addresses mental health issues and provide money to help schools. -- beef up terrace security. consensus says some form of legislation will land on the governor's desk. religious leaders gathered as part of a religious unity day and replace that with life in

prison without parole. the senate committee will hear that repeal bill next week. >> a suspect is in custody for the murder of an owings mills a wife and mother. katie heydel was stabbed in her home in front of two young children. her family and friends are devastated. >> i hate whoever did this. they have to know how good a person she was. she had a small baby and now she does not have a mother. >> police are not identifying the suspect until charges have been filed. authorities will say the suspect is 33 and an older -- an old acquaintance. we now know the name of a 15- year-old who was stabbed to death in downtown baltimore. beyonte smith was attending this

serving for car theft in charles county. city prosecutors said they had nothing to do with it. >> are learning a baltimore city circuit court judge has dismissed the lawsuit by baltimore controller over the plan to install new phone system and it is an update to the story the i-team has been falling. accusing the mayor of subverting the bidding process. >> bankruptcy may be the only option for the city of baltimore 10 years down the road if officials do not make some major cuts and reforms. that is part of a city ordered to report what it says. the forecast was published by public financial management, inc.. if the city continues its spending trend it will be more than $2 billion in the hole. $745 million includes a budget deficit, failing infrastructure

assault weapons ban. today we learned florida senator marco rubio will deliver the republican response to the president's address. he has been touted as the potential presidential candidate in 2016. lawmakersican mullica have revealed their plans. the plan calls for a reduction in the federal work force through attrition and a pay freeze for members of congress. sponsors of the bill say it would delay sequestration for one year and achieve $85 billion in savings while congress works on a long-term deficit reduction plan. that move counters the president's call for a shorter term fix. >> this is a way of doing it without cutting defense is, without cutting domestics, and without raising taxes. >> the warehouse says the gop plan is not balanced. leon panetta says the automatic cuts set to take effect on march 1 will damage national security if congress fails to act.

for student athletes. >> players, coaches, fans, and games, all such a huge part of the high-school experience. there is the old saying. it is all fun and games until someone gets hurt. >> i get the kids that have a more prolonged problems. >> besides concussions, the doctor treats a wide range of injuries. >> there are dislocated shoulders, sprains. >> our group is calling for new guidelines for school athletic programs in order to better protect student athletes. among other initiatives it wants health providers like trainers for doctors for every school in better medically trained coaches. currently the maryland public school athletic association requires coaches take courses on

the prevention and care of injuries and training in concussion management. the executive the dark -- director said the guidelines will be extremely difficult for the state to meet financially. >> there is not enough traders. if we were to mandate a trader in every school we would have to cut programs because we could not staff at. >> some schools do staff trainers but the doctor agrees that requirement will be expensive and he thinks other tnitiatives like emt's an in schools wills be expensive. while maryland may not be able to hear to all the youth sports safety alliance guidelines it is making strides in the right direction. >> it will be a better atmosphere and better conditions for students participating. we can see that now that it was five years ago. i would think probably in the next five years we will see
